And a consideration I did not see in your post; That this would only be a temporary fix. Mars' lesser gravity means the atmosphere slowly leaks away. This is, in fact, one of the theorized reasons it doesn't have an atmosphere in the first place. So while this may or may not lead to "instant terraforming" - something else would inevitably have to be implemented in the long run.
