The exhaust NO and NO2 are still bad pollutants. While they won't contribute to global warming, they will still contribute to the severe health hazards of smog.

Electric vehicles have the potential to be powered by completely green and non-polluting sources (someday, at least) and - to me - still seem to be the better choice.
